Quality Candy Company™ took the reins of Gilliam’s® core group of products, the hard candy and stick candy that originally made the brand famous. Having a wealth of experience with stick candy, the addition of Gilliam’s® products made Quality Candy Company™ one of the largest manufacturers of stick candy in the world. Now Gilliam® produces a wide variety of classic candy such as drops, discs and more.
In 1927, Cleve Gilliam® opened “The Candy Kitchen” in Paducah, Kentucky. An artist and accomplished candy maker, Cleve’s small town candy store was known for hard candy, stick candy, peanut brittle, and various candy bars. The high quality candy became so popular that Gilliam’s® operation was forced to move several times into larger quarters. Despite the incredible growth of his company, Cleve Gilliam retired and sold his business in 1944.
